Hey Y'all! My name is Dana M. Walden, and I run the Theorhetical Blog. I am a PhD student studying rhetoric in the Communication Arts and Sciences department at Penn State University. 

My primary research interests reside in the rhetorical interstices of liberation and learning. Most of my work focuses on race and radicality, and I am especially invested in delineating the role of pedagogy in resistance movements. The majority of my work is historically located in the 1960s and 1970s, but on occasion, I foray into research on present day politics of schooling, race, and curricular media. 

TLDR: I like to write about liberation movements in the 60's and 70's and how they understood and organized around education and race. I also like to write about how processes of learning and teaching have been rhetorically constructed, usually as a means to secure institutional or national power. 

For the 2026-2027 school year, I will serve as the Penn State Center for Democratic Deliberation (CDD) Research Assistant; I will also be teaching one section of CAS 215: Argumentation in the fall.
